Coloniel Office,

My dear MacDougall,

Downing Street,

London, S..1.

26th October, 1945.

In a letter I have seen from Oven-Hughes to Drew he refers to Gimson's personnel from 3t:nley Camp as "This Puppet Government s we callit". This expression had been indignantly mentioned to me by Gimson and others, but I assumed that it was a piece of ignorance by some service officers new to the Far Est. It had never occurred to me that it could have been used by anyone in the Civil Affairs administr: tion. Of all unfortun te expressions I think it is the worst that could possibly hɩve been chosen and rightly infuriated the gallant personnel from Stanley.

Yours sincerely,

(sgd.) G.E.J. GENT.

Brigadier D.. MacDougɛ11.
